A Doctor Script to have Evaluation done for SPD???

I have been reading up on SPD and have identified some of the symptoms with my 7 year old daughters "behaviors". She was diagnosed as having ODD when she was in Pre-school, but she has matured out of that behavior and still has some issues that pertain to Sensory input. I spoke with a OT today and said that they do have outpatient testing. I called the business, but was told that I had to get a doctor's script in order to even make an appointment to have the testing administered. Is this accurate???

Most doctors don't even know what SPD consists of here!

That is good information. Thank you! I already have the referral in progress. Hopefully, it will not take long to get the evaluation done. :)

Just ask your doctor for a referral for SPD evaluation. More and more doctors know about it now. They write the referral on a prescription. Then when you call tell them you have the referral. Usually they will contact your doctor's office also but you just need the prescription (referral).
