I have been recently sharing some summer camp ideas with my son. Specifically, I talked to him about a sensorimotor camp in my area, for kids with SPD. I have been pretty surprised-my son emphatically refuses anything to do with the camp. He said he just wants to play with me in the summer. I have been trying to encourage him, saying I think he would like playing with other kids too. He gets really upset, and the last time we talked he had a meltdown.

I know that he is shy, but I haven't been used to him really refusing to be around other kids. Do other parents see this in their kids? What do you do about it?
