Christmas dinner

by Janine
(Australia)

My 15 year old daughter's sensory disorder means that she doesn't like to have to chew anything or try any new food. She would prefer to just eat custard with cheese and doesn't mind that most of it sits around her face and not in her mouth.

One Christmas dinner I had a big discussion beforehand with her that I would really like her to try and eat all the food on her plate. She would be sitting with her cousins and she was going to try and fit in. What I didn't know was that my mother in law had placed an enormous unpeeled banana prawn on each child's plate. By the time I realized - it was too late. There she was, staring large daggers at me, with a mouth completely full of unpeeled prawn, trying to chew with her mouth closed, and two large antennae poking out between her lips.

Sounds yucky to me, poor kid. I had to look up what it was first. LAUGHING STILL!
