Ear tubes

by bridget
(louisiana)

My daughter is about to be three and in the last three months has gotten a dozen or so ear infections. She gets pretty much tortured when a loud noise or even the tv is on to loud.

I was wondering if getting tubes put in her ears would make the noises worse for her or if it would be the same. The ENT cant even answer that question for me so I am relying on other people who have children that are in the same boat as me to help me out.

Please if any body has any information about this please let me know or email me at butterfly2252003@yahoo.com

Over the counter med. NEW

My three year old son has SPD and before he was even diagnosed he was put on Zyrtec. This has helped tremendously because it was a huge struggle to give him the liquid antibiotic. He hasn't had an ear infection since. I would try taking him to an ear, nose and throat specialist. See what he/she suggests. My son also struggles with loud noises, but mostly the smoke detector, and vacuum cleaner.

ear tubes NEW

I teach Special needs students. I have a student who has tubes and has suffered from many ear infections. He is often quite sensitive to noises. In fact there are times when he hears noises that most of us don't even notice.

After he first got this set of tubes he was quite sensitive to loud noises, it has been about a year and he seems to have adjusted to the noises.

My own child had tubes put in when she about 2 1/2 after suffering from ear infections almost every month since she was about 9 months. Cold and flu season were the worst. All the doctors said that tubes were not the cure all but I disagree.

After we put in the tubes she didn't have another ear infection until she about 9 years old. For her it was the cure, we didn't have to worry that every time she got a runny nose we had an ear infection. We did eventually have to have her tonsils taken out because of numerous problems with strep. This also was a cure because she is now 15 and has only had 1 mild case of strep since she had them removed at 11.
