Eating

by Sheri
(Greenwood, SC, USA)

I am a teacher working with 5 year old developmental delayed children. A couple of the children have issues with eating. I believe it surrounds the texture issue, but this is my first experience with this, even though I have been teaching for over 15 years. Both of the girls eat soft foods only; baby food, yogurt, and applesauce. How can I help them to develop the tolerance to eat differently? What steps should I take? What foods should I try? They eat both breakfast and lunch at school. Any ideas, suggestions or experiences shared will be greatly appreciated.
