Hello

I have a 4 year old girl (Brianna) she just started school this year and is in speech therapy. I had an appointment yesterday with her speech therapist and the sensory got brought up, I had no idea what she was talking about until I came home and found this site.

Brianna has a lot of these symptoms on the check list. The therapist said that she was going to call someone to have Brianna checked out for SPD.

Now I have a 8 year old daughter as well (Alyssa) she has something from every category. She only wears dresses, doesn't like to wear sneakers and when she does she wants them as tight as possible, very picky eater, just to name a few.

How does someone say that your kid has SPD? How would I go about getting my 8 year old checked out? Do they go on medication? I am so new to this. I do feel in my heart that BOTH my girls have this SPD :( I am very very heart broken over this news. I knew for a couple years now that there was something wrong with my oldest but never knew until now.

Thank you-- any input would be appreciated.

Colleen~
