Hi! we just found out that our 4 year old son has SPD. Money is tight and I was wondering if anybody know about any company or group that can help us get the things our son needs. amykeiser@aol.com
We just found out our 6 year old has SID too. Same thing, our insurance doesn't cover. Someone told me even if we take him to just 2 visits, that helps a lot. The school districts help only if the child is really struggling academically, and not always is the case.
Just keep researching. You are your child's best advocate!

After you get his OT eval.. by: Anonymous
Unless hes already had one.... Ask the OT what sensory tings he will need, as they vary, and then you can make some things yourself!! Look on line for sensory ideas, you will find alot of stuff!! But, obviously, you need to know what he actually needs. There are alot of things you can do physically for him too. Like massage, joint compression, etc... Good luck with everything, and God Bless you and your family, kim

Re: Help by: Anonymous
Your School District should be able to help you. Our child with SPD was qualified as Developmentally Delayed because he is two standard deviations below in the the area of Social and Emotional Development. In addition, a Medical Diagnosis from a Dr. can also go a long way with your insurance company!
