How do you know if your child really has SPD?

by patty
(NY,. NY)

My son's teacher just told us he does not hold his utensils properly and does not look them in the eye when speaking. He sometimes has a difficult time calming down after being upset.

All of the other things I have read about SPD--trouble sleeping, hitting, clothing preference etc does not apply just the 3 things above.

Is it possible that he has an extremely mild case? He is trying to hold a crayon better since we have told him but not sure what we can do about the other 2 things. He seemed to have reached all the normal developments other than those and he is now 3.9 years old.
