If you do, please tell me, because im low on options now.

You are not alone
by: Anonymous

You are not a freak.

I think everyone has issues with their senses and they adapt but certain individuals have a much harder time and it can interfere with daily activities.

My son has autism and noises are a major trigger for him.

Me personally I have an aversion to grass, everything about it. I can’t handle even the smell of freshly cut grass it make me nauseous. But I have found ways to avoid it and move on, not always possible for some others to do.
Finding the right person/people to help you will change your life.

Occupational Therapists can work wonders, you could try looking that way maybe.

sounds like misophonia
by: Anonymous

It does sound like misophonia to me as well. Because of your age however please get every aspect checked out. Some of these issues are much easier to get diagnosed as a child.

Also if it is a disorder that has something else sort of strange that will show up later or effect your health in a major way you will be prepared. Good luck!

Speak to someone you trust
by: Anonymous

Hi,
It's not uncommon for everyone of us to have bits and pieces that confuse us but some of us have lots of them- my son does. We have come a long way but I won't say we have decoded the situation. I think it's great that you are trying to understand your situation. I am a psychiatrist. The way I see it, it would be greatly helpful for you to have a chat with an adult that you trust- it may be a school teacher/ social worker, doctor or a family member. Sometimes, local kids helplines, hospitals can also help. Whatever, they help you with, right now it seems like a very frustrating situation you are at. So, I hope you will find the help you seek. For my son, there is no magic answer. It's been strategies based on general advise as well as trial and error. I wish you well and will pray for peace of mind in this journey you are undertaking.

Possibly misophonia
by: Anonymous

I have a very similar problem, being a strong disliking of particular sounds, but only when other people make them. If you happen not to have any other signs of general auditory sensitivity (as another comment suggests, you should go through the checklist with a parent or guardian or healthcare provider to determine this), it seems likely you have misophonia. If so, I wouldn't recommend ASMR as you may find it wildly unpleasant- I certainly do. You definitely aren't alone though, and even if you get clinically diagnosed with a sensory disorder, that doesn't mean you're a freak. Misophonia is still being studied, but there are some therapeutic treatments that should be able to help you.

Never a Freak

It sounds like you have SPD, sensory issues. Go to your mom or an adult who you trust. Use the "Symptoms Checklist" to help you understand where your sensitivities lie. Praying for you.
