Is SPD Real?

Of course it is real! I can understand the doubts, when I first found out that is what my daughter had, I was unsure too. I went through five years with her unexplained "symptoms" before I found an answer. Since her diagnosis, she has made some real improvements. What I have learned from the experience is that every child is different and the severity and symptoms can vary.

My daughter just started school and the teacher doesn't believe her condition is real. It is upsetting to not be understood, but unless you have experienced it personally or had a child with SPD, then it is not for you to say if it is real or not.

I am sorry that you are going through that, it upsets me to no end that people think that you are making it up or trying to excuse your child. People don't understand and they don't try to and I believe its because of their own stupidity that causes it.

Anyone that does research after they have been told should realize how real SPD is.

I personally would be a folder of information together for the teacher and give it to them. They shouldn't judge you or your child at all, and be open minded.

Again I am truly sorry that you are going through this, it upsets me to other parents suffer because other people's stupidity.

I can only share your testimony that it is also my experience. This SPD is real with all the difference in severity that can be from one child to another. I personally think that the symptoms of origin even if the autistic children do not have classic autism, I hope that research will soon provide more answers about SPD.
