Is there a sensory issue?

My child has fine motor issues, cannot ride a bike with training wheels at age 5, Is constantly touching things. Hugs constantly and impulsively, does not like tags in his shirts, is afraid to sleep alone, feels like he is being yelled at when he isn't,Is afraid of movie theaters and walks on the balls of his feet. He also does not like trying new activities or sports. It takes a lot of convincing to get him to try and he often does not want to continue with them. One therapist said she thinks it is ADD but the school said that shouldn't be diagnosed until age 8. He is also very curious. Hasn't outgrown the Why stage yet.

My son is also 5 and still cannot ride any kind of bike. He just can't get the pedaling thing down whether it's a Big Wheel, tricycle, bike w/ training wheels, etc. He also has fine motor issues. He is getting OT twice a week. I would recommend it for your son as well. Sounds like he does have some sensory issues. Good luck!

occupational therapy NEW
by: Anonymous

Hello-
Thanks for sharing your information, I found it very interesting. I had a few questions for you. I am a certified occupational therapy assistant and I work in a preschool. I am also in my last year of graduation occupational therapy school.

My first question to you, has your child ever been evaluated by an occupational therapist in his school district?
