Jorden 2 years July 22nd

by Nicole Cribbs
(Greatfalls Montana,USA)

My son Jorden was a babbling baby all he did was babble and then started saying mama and dada and all of the above at about 9 months and on he would learn new words every week. Then Tyler was born when Jorden was 14 weeks old they told us he would regress but he is 2 now and is ONLY SAYING MAMA he wont say anything but that and he use to use his words all the time. Its getting really hard now too cause his tantrums , mostly when he wants something we are doing speech therapy and they think he is doing good but i cant tell all that much. I took him to OT and she says he has regressed but he isnt autistic or anything , I just want to know if my son will ever talk! Its so frustrating!!

The only issue is jorden had tubes put in when he turned a year old and since that he has gotten more ear infections now rather then when he was a year old and younger

regarding 2 yr old not talking
by: Anonymous

My son grunted alot and did not have a large vocabulary at 2 years of age. When he did speak it sounded like a deaf person communicating. We found out he had alot of fluid in the ear and had tubes put in. He had alot of ear infections prior. Once the tubes were in he started speaking so much more. Now he is 6 and he has Auditory Processing Disorder, they think due to not being able to really hear the first couple years. He also has a mild form of Asbergers & SPD. Have you had your son checked out for fluid build-up in the ear? My son is considered a "late bloomer", due to the processing issues and the Asbergers, but there is hope and he is doing great. My one piece of advice, if you aren't satisfied with the therapy he is receiving, find help elsewhere. It is exhausting and frustrating, but our children are worth it!
