Mother of 2 and life long ADHD SUFFERER

by sheila carter
(hemet, calif, usa)

I have suffered with this illness my whole life and it has caused many problems. Unfortunately, my mother never put me on any medication or any therapy as a child, so then that just caused a whole other host of problems as an adult. For instance, coping skills, staying on task, bi-polar, severe chronic depression. It wasn't until i had my second child that i really went down hill and had to be put on meds for the first time in 30 years.

So, my point to parents is, don't let this go, this is serious and doesn't go away by itself. It gets worse as time goes on and your child will suffer needlessly. If one medication doesn't work, keep trying, there are so many now, you will find one that works eventually and who knows you might get lucky and the first one will work. Don't give up, stay strong for your child. Giving up on meds, is giving up on your child! So hang in there and good luck. Bless you all and may your lives be full of joy, happiness and calm children!
