My six year old daughter soils her pants and doesn't know it.

by Jana
(Fremont, CA, USA)

This has been happening since she was about three. I have tried almost everything I can do. She just doesn't know when she needs to go. She can sit on the potty and go and not even know she went. Is there any help out there?

Thank you!

OMG! The bath trick just might work! He is soaking now....I'll keep you posted.

And the Encopresis! Possibly that is another solution. I will have to try and see.

Thank you all for your thoughts.

hot tub
by: Anonymous

Our son has CHARGE syndrome and wore diapers until he was 5 and at night until he was 8. Doctors had ran out of advice and then we bought a hot tub. The first night after he soaked in the hot tub he didnt wet the bed and had no accidents during the day. If he soaked in it at least every other night he stayed dry. 2 weeks after getting the hot tub he never had any accidents. His Doctor thinks the heat from the tub loosened some muscle up and enabled him to feel when he needs to go. If you know someone with a hot tub its worth a try!Good Luck

Hi, my son also had this problem, and was diagnosed with Encopresis (constipation) which I've come to find out is common with children who have SPD, because of their diet. He was diagnosed in 2007, and has been taking the laxative Miralax since then. Hope this helps, take care.
