My son is 3, with SID.

by cherie stull
(meade co., KY)

Im struggling with "head banging" tantrums. He keeps a bruise on his forehead constantly.. Grant you, 3 months into pre-school, he's yet to even attempt it at school. My son also doesn't eat soft texture foods at all. Only crunchie.. we compensate his nutrition with pediasure, milk & benefiber around the clock.
helpless mom in Kentucky.

Wow, my son is in the same boat...he is turning two years old and has been banging his head with extreme force to the point that he constantly has a bruise on his forehead. He also has the same reaction to soft foods, and will eat mostly crunchy foods. For a year he was on Vital Jr. formula because he has peptic ulcers and gastrointestinal issues but we recently changed it to Pediasure because the Vital was causing chronic constipation. He is getting therapy for eating and other issues but they noticed that if they mix crunchy foods with the soft ones he'll eat them until it's soggy.

I would suggest you have him tested and start getting some OT directed at the sensory issues/eating issues-
