Need help

Is intense therapy the key to help my child with sensory integration disorder?.... They have begun to really push her at therapy and she is almost two. However she had a major meltdown afterwords.

does it seem that your daughter is benefiting from the time at the ot? i don't think it's uncommon for these children who have spd, to be pushed and worked and challenged at an hour appointment, to then be exhausted after wards and have a melt down. it's an outlet for my son some times. he has to work so hard to keep it together during the appt. that then when he is finished he lets it out.

i guess if you have concerns, you should talk to the ot and ask about it. i'm sure that different ot's have different perspectives about how things should be handled. if you don't feel like it's a good fit, maybe ask to scale it back a bit and see if that helps. if it doesn't or if it's not a possibility or if it's not beneficial, that maybe try another ot. good luck!

really need to ask her therapists that question. I hope you are able to attend the sessions. If not I would suggest finding another therapist!
