Occupational Therapist

by Belinda Anderson
(Chicago, IL)

I am a contract occupational therapist, who is working at a therapeutic day school (and residential)for students who have emotional disorders. I started the occupational therapy program three years ago. I struggle with administration about the need for a gym, space and scheduling or provision of services. I am specializing in sensory processing treatment. The students are showing so much improvement in behavior, emotion, interactions and performances in their educational setting.

In addition, I work with infants and toddlers, who mainly have sensory processing disorder. Currently, I am pursuing my doctorate degree in occupational therapy at Governors State University in University Park, IL. My research focus is investigating the narrative reasoning of expert occupational therapists, who treat infants and toddlers who have sensory processing disorder. Your website has helped me better understand sensory processing disorder. I would love to meet some of your therapists to interview and observe a treatment session.

Thanks,

Belinda D. Anderson, M.Ed., M.S., OTR/L
