Oral Sensitivities

by Susan
(Hannibal, MO)

My 12 year old daughter has never wanted to brush her teeth. This has been a constant battle throughout her life. She now has braces and it is an even bigger battle. She hates toothpaste and barely puts the toothbrush to her mouth when I allow her to brush them herself. From time to time, I insist on brushing her teeth. What a scene! She throws a fit and sobs as if I was killing her. I've never seen anything like it. Help!

same experience

we tried several things with our son as well and reverted back to the rubber finger 'toothbrush' because it didn't 'hurt'. similar to this, here's a link.

Dr. Mom Finger Tooth Brush with Case, Green/White

you may want to look into that. anything at all is better than nothing, right?! also, we ended up using a natural toothpaste that didn't have a minty strong flavor to it. helped a lot. maybe you could try focusing on flossing instead for now and they make some great gum picks that work well.

GUM Soft-Picks

good luck.
