Question

Can they be obsessed with certain things? Like knifes and guns, we have an 8 yr old and he has toys and the usual. He wants to talk and play with knives and gun. It is distressing that he is so young and cannot get his mind off of these !!!
Thanks

Obsession on a topic NEW
by: Anonymous

My son had an obsession with airplanes since he was 3 years old he is now 12 and still talks about them, reads, breaths, sleeps etc etc plains. I do agree with the previous comment, that a fixation with a specific topic is more related to ASD, specially Asperger's syndrome, you should discuss it with your doctor.

Obsessions or special interest is more of a symptom of being on the spectrum than that of SPD; this however seems age appropriate to me. My boys go from one thing like that to another.
