Raining

by Beth Krause
(Downers Grove, IL)

One day we had a very powerful storm front come through our area. It was raining, very windy, dark, and there was lightening and thunder. My son, who was 5 years old at the time, does not handle loud noises and bright lights well, so we cuddled up on the couch, snuggled under a heavy blanket. I turned on the TV to find out how much longer the storm was predicted to last. The weather man on this particular news channel is very long winded, but he spends a lot of time with maps so my son likes him a lot. We were watching this gentleman show the storm on the map when he came out with the familiar line, "It's really raining cats and dogs out there today!" My son shot up and ran to the window with the biggest smile on his face. Then his face dropped, "Where are the cats and dogs, Mommy?" I nearly fell off the couch I was laughing so hard!
