Safety

by Deb
(Dubuque, Iowa )

I have an eight-year-old who has a Sensory processing disorder and ADHD. We have to constantly watch what he is doing because he doesn't have any safety awareness. He also doesn't feel super hot or cold temperatures very well. He has an extremely high pain tolerance.

I am single mom. How do I get help so I can get more income coming in when he has to be watched all the time, so I can work? Currently I work two part-time jobs out of my house.

What do other parents do? His father doesn't pay child support. My son goes to OT, PT, speech, counselors and psychologist each week. So far he is bright enough that he holds it together at school so he is not on an IEP. He only met the criteria for Autism spectrum disorder in the area of communication, not behavior. Any ideas?
