Service/Therapy Pets

Hi All. I have a 5 1/2 year old that is SPD, OCD and has speech issues. She is currently in OT. We have family pets, which are all older animals, which do not like being handles and one is too big to be handled. She responds very well to animals and adores both cats and dogs. Of course, cats get to a point where they don't want to be constantly handled.

For Christmas this past year we got her a puppy (our one small dog is her uncle). She has done well with the puppy. We were watching a special on service/therapy dogs and saw a young girl that had anxiety disorders and had a certified service dog.

I was wondering if anyone knows anything about kids with SPD and/or OCD qualifying for a "service" dog? Or, even if they would benefit from a "service" dog? If so, does anyone have any info where I might be able to look into it further?

Thank you so much and hugs to all.

I am also looking for information on a therapy pet to help with SPD meltdowns. Little Angels Service Dogs said they do for autism. I can't find anything for SPD. Plus it seems to cost a lot of money that insurance doesn't cover. I just started researching this so still looking around.
