Spd And Relationship To Parents

I have a 7 year old son who has SPD has always had a good happy relationship with both of us parents and especially his dad. Over the last 2 months he has become extremely aggressive towards his dad and doesn't want anything to do with him (we are married and live together) cries if he tries to take him out and just wants to be with me and his sister all of the time, doesn't want to go to school or do anything anymore. We need help and don't understand why he is being this way to his dad.

Hmmm..
by: Jessi

That's a tough situation! I wonder if your husband has changed anything in the last few months... different cologne, aftershave, clothes... I don't know if you have tried asking your son what's bothering him, but maybe it's not even anything he's recognized on a conscious level that he could explain to you.

I think it might be worth it for you and your husband to try and think of anything, no matter how small, that may affect your son's SPD. It's always seemed to me that when my son's behavior gets aggressive, or obstinate, or generally unpleasant, it's usually somehow related to the SPD and how things are affecting his system.

Good luck!
