SPD issues in our 6 yr old making school tough
Our 6 yr old started Kindergarten this fall and he clearly has SPD issues. We let the school and teacher know up front and his teacher has been a saint in trying to accommodate his needs by giving him goals, treats, time to jump or explore in another room when he gets antsy etc. It has helped but he has big issues with transition and gets anxiety so sometimes he just yells "no" in class or almost freezes and cant seem to get out of his own way.
Seems like all the stuff we read shows exercises and activities that play to SPD and while he does definitely enjoy those, they dont seem to help his behavior in school. Does anyone have anything that has worked? His teacher is willing to try things, we just dont know what to suggest. Thank you
