Teenage Son

My son has never liked to be tickled. He doesn't mind being touched. He doesn't like it when you poke him. It hurts him more than it should. He hugs us, and is usually happy,as long as he doesn't have to go anywhere.

He is not a "people Person" at all. He has 3 friends. He does not sleep at night and really never has much at all. He will sleep several hours during the day.

He always had learning disabilities in school- ADHD/Auditory Processing Disorder, but his IQ is high. He barely graduated from high school because he always had trouble getting information from his brain to his paper. By the way, he did not walk at graduation. He stayed at home. Do you know how bad that broke my heart, as a mom. But then I thought... You know, it could be a whole lot worse. AT least I know where he is , he's safe, and he's not drinking or doing drugs.

He is trying to find a job. He won't drive though. He's terrified and he says he doesn't like the way it feels. He loves the warm water in the shower. When he was little , he would beg to take a bath, 6 to 8 times a day. I would say no and he would cry. Once I left him for one minute to answer the phone and he had the water so hot that he was red. Needless to say, I never did that again.

These days, He takes at least 4 showers a day as hot and as long as he can.The other day, my husband had him do some digging with a post hole digger. Every time he would put the digger into the hole, my husband said there was look of terror on my sons face because the pain was like an electric shock to him. My husband said it does not feel that way to the average person. He had him stop because it was torture to him. I know this is long but do you think he may have SPD ?
