Why does my daughter of nearly 4 hate wearing knickers socks and anything with tight elsatic on her?

Since my daughter was potty trained at 2 and a half, she has hated wearing knickers, cries tell me they hurt her, screams for me to pull them down a bit because they hurt her Girlie bits. Even socks as soon as we get home from school pulled straight off. Anything with tight elastic around the arms etc, she will scream at me it hurts. Also wont have her hair tied up.

Hates shorts also. She doesn't however mind having skirts on and jeans and these are still tight around her waist???? Unsure if it is hyposensitivty or just a stubborn nearly 4 year old?

thanks x

Our daughter would wear dresses, skirts hated jeans. We started with her towel after bath and rubbed her down with it. At first, she hated it, she did not like the way adult towels felt, needless to say it has helped, she actually is starting to wear some jeans now. Granted, they have to have elastic in the waist and be someones hand me downs, (they are softer) but I did find a pair she would wear when it was cold. Leggings and tights have always been our best friend, but have to be a little bigger than her size or she constantly tugs at them. I wish you the best.

Search on the web: New Brushing Protocol Protective Response Regime and contact an Occupational Therapist who works with children if you need help with it, and pray of course.

CLOTHING.

Definitely tactile defensiveness. IF you can avoid the clothes that are tight, then do so. My son usually wears all cotton clothes and shirts and soft clothes, no jeans, etc. He's picky about socks and shoes, but we've found some that work for him.

Hypersensitivity

This is not a stubborn 4 year old. She is exhibiting exacting what SPD is for some little girls and boys. Our daughter was the same way, but we treated it as stubbornness until she was 7 and boy did we feel guilty once we finally found out. We had horrible mornings, evenings, etc. Let her wear skirts, skorts, gouchos, etc. Our daughter hates jeans. There is an item called jeggings, looks like jeans, feels like really soft leggings.

It does get better with age, keep encouraging her to wear things, this will desensitize her over several times wearing. Good Luck!
