Constipation and Aspergers

by kristen
(ireland)

Im now 15 and pretty much ever since i was born i have been struggling with the severe constipation. there has actually been stages in my life where i hadn't pooped in like a month.

i was never thirsty and the pain only hit me when it got really bad, and when it did hit me, it was bad.(i was seriously crippled) i have been hospitalised so many times cuz of the pain and of course im sure its not healthy...and dangerous.

i hear this is common with aspie girls. but recently (this past year or so) its actually turned opposite and im thirsty all the darn time now, not sure if this is a good or a bad thing, but i never ever expected this to happen lol.

this post probably bored the heck out of u but i just thought id post it anyway 2 support the statement that a lot (apparently 9/10) of aspie girls have mild to severe problems with bowels. pretty darned gross tbh...but there u go! :)

Drinking all of the time might be a problem
by: Anonymous

As a mother of a child with special needs who has dealt with constipation all of her life, I want you to know that I understand and hope you find something that works for you. As far as the need to drink all of the time, that is often a sign of diabetes. Please get to your doctor and let him know what is going on.

stomache pain
by: Anonymous

My son son is 10 years old and has a sensory processing disorder and has been suffering with constipation (pain in gut area) going on two years now. we have gone to so many gastro doctors and have also had many trips to ER as well.

We have tried diets natural and medical remedies and nothing has helped the only thing that is curbing the pain is medicating him with risperodone a anti psychotic medication his psychiatrist prescribed. this calms him down and probably does something to the brain to help with sensory deficiency and this curbs pain.

Like I mentioned this is the only thing that has helped I am looking at maybe trying cbd oil to see if this helps him . I know when he is with his cousins and friends he tends to get distracted and not clutch his gut but as soon as he eats. bam the pain strikes back.

I hope this helps some one

Thank you for your post. My son has constipation problems, but just like you it seems to show up when pain is unbearable. Thank you, I now know he's not alone on this.

Miralax
by: Anonymous

Miralax is not natural. Look up the ingredients. Also, I was on it in my teens (when it had to be prescribed) and now have issues and unable to go without the meds. Mural ax says only to use 7 days. I used it daily for roughly 2 years. I am totally messed up now. I am glad it works, but we go to a chiropractor and it is all my daughter needs to poop and no mitralax!

My daughter
by: Anonymous

Thank you for posting this! My daughter is 2yo now and has suffered from constipation (and acid reflux, gluten sensitivity/intolerance, SPD and some other things) since birth. I always say that she passed merconium in the hospital and that was the last normal thing she did. She's been drinking prune juice since she was three weeks old! We even just spoke to the pediatrician about her because the constipation might affect her toilet training. :(

The only thing I wanted to say about the thirst is to keep your eyes open because I know that can be a symptom of diabetes and want to make sure you're ok!

Good to know that my 4 year old boy (SPD) isn't the only one suffering with constipation. Your story helped me with what I will try next.

Miralx works wonders
by: Anonymous

hi My daughter suffers from constipation as well (SPD & ADHd) and her pediatrician added miralax to her morning routine. I add it to her morning juice. It has done wonders for her and it is natural and non-addictive. She now poops once to twice a day and her stomach aches have become non-exisitant. At one pt they were really bad. I think it can be hard for those with SPD and other disorders to actually feel the urge to go. You can train your body to go at specific times. What we did was have her sit on the toilet for at least 5 mins after a meal. It didn't matter if she actually went or not but the point was to get her body in a routine. the Miralax helped her go when she did manage to poop.

GAPS
by: Anonymous

You should check into the GAPS diet by Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride. There is a clear connection between the health of the gut and conditions like autism and aspergers.
