My fiancee has a son who is my son's age. Her son has been diagnosed with SPD

I see the signs when he comes over to play. He has to chill every hour or so, or else he will tell someone their parents smell bad or physically hurt a playmate. If he is barely scraped, he freaks out like a 4 year old and he is 9.

If we get married, how is this going to effect my 9 year old son and his understanding, growth, discipline and basic learning of life?

Your son is going to learn a lot about patience, kindness, appreciating differences... the whole gamut, depending on how you and your finance choose to view the spd and this child who has it. If you haven't already, I would suggest reading a few books on this topic like,The Out-of-Sync Child and Raising A Sensory Smart Child and I would include your son in some discussions about the fact that the discipline and expectations may vary a little bit for each of them, and that what is fair is based on individual needs and abilities. Good luck.
