So individuals with SPD are thought to have less of a gating response to sensory input. Meaning they cannot shut down the flow of information coming in from the sensory system.

It basically says that individuals with decreased gating ability are more creative. I am an OT with 37 years of practice and this has often been the case in the children I work with that have SPD. They are some of the most creative people I know.

To go along with that thought is this, Einstein said creativity is intelligence having fun.

So to me that is a big positive.
