SPD and post Tonsilectomy problems

by Shelli

My 8 year old had surgery last Friday and has completely shut down because of it. We just spent 5 days in the hospital due to him not eating or drinking. He is now drinking, very small frequent amounts and is still refusing food. Any ideas, we may be headed to a Children's Hospital to a feeding program if he doesn't start eating soon.

Tonsillectomy-Cold Food Aversion/SPD
by: Anonymous

I have a 4 year old who is about to have a tonsillectomy. I am concerned that he does not like cold foods, particularly frozen items and will probably not consume enough fluids/foods after surgery. He normally prefers drinking over eating, but I still have trouble getting liquids into him when he is not feeling well.

Assuming this was a past posting. What did you do to finally get your child to consume enough fluids, etc.?

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get an SPD child with feeding aversions and particularly temperature aversions to drink/eat after a tonsillectomy or while they are not feeling well?

Thank you!
