We found comfortable pants for our very sensitive girl! Hooray!

Our daughter is 11 years old. We have struggled for years during cold weather, we live in the Midwest, getting her to wear appropriate clothing because she cannot stand any type of jeans, courderoy, etc. because of how uncomfortable it makes her feel. She doesn't like anything coarse feeling, anything that moves up and down on her skin, etc.

Well, it's that time of year again and I was determined to find her pants that had some style without the discomfort. We went through a few typical "girly" places and then stumbled into Justice. There is a new type of pants calle "jeggings". They are made out of a stretchy knit material and look identical to skinny jeans, but they are actually leggings! We also found out these are available at JcPenney and I'm sure you could probably find them other places too.

I can't tell you what an amazing difference these pants have made for her. She feels stylish, confident, but mostly, she feels the she fits in without being in a skirt, skorts, etc. all the time even in freezing weather.

We just wanted to share this in hopes that it may be able to help others with the same tactile struggles.

9 yr old will not wear pants
by: Anonymous

My 9 yr old daughter will not wear any type pants because they make her "itchy." The only items she will wear are dresses and shorts. Like the other mom, regardless of how cold it gets, she refuses to cover her legs.

It would be great if girls' pants came in something like palazzo pants. Perhaps then I could get her to dress appropriately for the weather.

jeggings for tactile defensive girls
by: Anonymous

I agree with the above lady. My daughter is in 2nd grade and refuses to wear jeans or any rough material. She wants to be stylish and for the longest time her wardrobe consisted of sweat pants or dresses with leggings in the winter time. We also found Justice jeggings and love them. Many other places are starting to sell jeggings as well but I think her favorite pair is from Justice.

You can also try www.softclothing.com they specialize in clothes for SPD kids. My daughter tried the jegging and couldn't wear them but loves the cloth at soft clothing.
