Why am i so irritated

Im a 25 year old female, i often find myself very irritated by the little things. I absolutely can not stand hearing someone drink something and hearing the liquid travel down the throat. I have a huge problem with repetition i hate when i hear the same noise over and over again for instance {tapping} or even the same question, i can't go out in public because i feel like everyone knows that noise bothers me and they are intentionally doing it.

Though I agree that it's important to recognize that what you feel IS a part of you, I don't believe, as someone who has been there for decades now, that it's as simple as "not giving in". A student can't wear ear plugs or headphones to a lecture where other students are chewing gum. There is also the added difficulty of, when one wears ear plugs and then removes them, the sounds are then louder and more prominent than they were before.

I admit that it is entirely possible you will be able to accept the noises and be able to overcome this, but I personally have never been able to, and know of a large body of people (who refer to this under the title of Soft Sound Sensitivity Syndrome for auditory-focused sufferers) who would give ANYTHING (including, yes, their hearing) to "make all that music to your ears" -- so if it doesn't happen, if it still hurts later, it's not your fault! Neurological wiring is a complex issue, just remember that you're not alone; it may be a problem for more people than you think!

The first step towards recovery is to realize the problem. WHICH YOU HAVE DONE. Now go to the second step to find a solution. You may want to go to a therapist who can guide you along. When you begin to realize that others are not doing anything purposely to irritate you, you will realize its within you. Anything within you, can be overcome by you. When you accept your problem you can also accept that something has to be done to combat it. Extreme patience is needed without giving in to the things that irritate you. Perhaps you can always wear ear plugs with music of your liking that can drown other irritating noises.

Force yourself to ACCEPT other noises. Step by step get there and condition your mind to accept the irritable little noises and make all that music to you ears. Then you will begin to realize that you cannot live without those noises. Imagine someone stone deaf.
