Worried Mom

Hi all... Ok I'm wondering about some advice on this topic. My daughter is almost 6 years old and alot of the symptoms on the checklist she has. One I am not finding is hand flapping. When she gets excited she moves her hands very fast and feet too. I now am noticing her doing weird movements with her mouth like it looks like she is sticking her tongue to the roof of her mouth. We have an Occupational Therapy referral in place. I'm hoping its not too serious. She has done the hand and feet movements since she was a baby. I figured he would grow out of it but nope. If anyone has anyone ideas I would greatly appreciate it!!! Thank you!

Thank you for the comments on my post. I am "worried mom". We have 2 appts scheduled for dec/jan first with an OT and then the dr. All at Neural Development Center. I'm hoping to have my questions answered. We have had a lot of issues with her behavior at school...it's getting a little better but it's hard to know the best steps to take. Praying for some encouragement and good help. Thanks again for the comments...means alot.

please i am not the only mum with a six year old girl who does alot of hand flapping when she gets exicted. Had help through my occupational therapist who did not diagnose my daughter with sensory processing disorder. But i feel that she does after reading all the signs and symptoms.

Hello!Occupational therapy is okay. It will help your daughter a lot particularly on repetitive movements. I hope she is not on the autism spectrum. You may consult with a developmental pediatrician for a dianosis. Good luck!
