At last, I am finding some answers!

by Karen
(CT)

My daughter is almost 7 and has been making us all crazy. We always just thought she was difficult. The pediatric neurologist told us about SPD and it turns out that is what she has. Now it is starting to make sense and we can get her help! Following are some of my daughter's issues.

She complains about socks and shoes hurting as well as some other clothing. She is extremely limited in what foods she will eat, wants her body scratched extremely hard or gets furious with me. She freaks out with changes in routine- hates going out to eat or away on a trip.

The school did an evaluation and we found out she also has a learning disability. Between the special education program at her school, the OT therapy she is starting, and our awareness of her diagnosis, we are hopeful things will start to improve.
