Concerned parent

As a youngster our son responded unusually to almost everything. We gave him alot of support and acceptance, but we did not seek help as we could not afford the out of pocket expense of OT. He is 19, and has constantly struggled with being able to connect or "feel" his own emotions. His emotions do not easily manifest through facial expressions or body language. He has always suffered from social isolation.

Researched Asperger's but that's not a fit.
along with physical sensory issues, has anyone else struggled with this sense of not being able to "feel" your own emotions or emotional connectedness to the outside world? I can easily see that much of the problem is SPD and I think he would benefit from OT-SI, but can it affect emotions too? Anybody?

My ten cents...

How come it's not Asperger's? I mean how did you rule it out?
