It Helped Our Son

by Tonya Garrick
(Southaven, MS)

My now 5 year old son responded well to the Brushing Protocol. We were taught how to do it by his OT, when he was 3 years old. It helped him seem more calm and less nervous about daily frustrations that he encountered. (ex: bright lights, airplanes overhead, etc.) Our OT made sure we knew how to do the joint compressions and brushing correctly. My son enjoyed it; he has always loved deep pressure massage on his legs and arms, ever since he was an infant. For him, it's always been calming. So the brushing and joint compressions were a good treatment for him.
