Just starting the process

My fiance and I are just beginning the process of getting his five year old twins evaluated for sensory processing disorder. We are looking for answers.

I downloaded the check list and both of the girls have check marks in different areas. Especially in under responsive oral receptors. We will be having a formal evaluation done in July with our local school district. Plus we will be getting an independent evaluation done as well.

Both girls are excessively oral! We've been trying in vain to get them to stop sucking their fingers. It makes so much sense why they are still exploring their world with their mouths now. And can't stop! It also makes more and more sense why they have speech problems.

Both girls are bright and wonderful children. But "L" has severe temper tantrums when she doesn't get what she wants. We make the expectations clear but she simply cannot control her temper.

"E" has suddenly gone from a pretty good eater to not wanting to eat any protein. Yes this includes cheese and peanut butter.

We intend to be proactive and diligently search for answers and ideas that can help.

If there is anyone out there who is in a similar situation. We'd love to hear what has worked for you.
