Weighted blankets

For a boy who is 7 years old and 60lbs....what weight blanket will he need? Do these blankets really help them stay in their beds longer at night because they are expensive! A recommendation on a particular brand?

DreamCatcher Weighted Blanket
by: Anonymous

We purchased a weighted blanket for our son from DreamCatcher Weighted Blankets. The company was started by parents of a child with autism and they have loads of information on the site. They have an exchange program also which helps with the expense when upgrading to a bigger size or weight.

Give it a Try
by: Anonymous

I am an Occupational Therapist and have tried weighted vests and blankets for children for quite a few years. What parents report are "Wow, that works like a miracle" to "I really didn't notice any difference". This is very individual as each body is unique. It doesn't hurt to try, test on your own before buying. I usually suggest to put several blankets on or heavy comforters to see if it makes a difference. You can go from there, making one or buying one. The prices have come down on a number of sites.

My son is 5 now but at 3 (2 months shy if his 4 Th birthday) he went to sleep by his self and stayed asleep for the first time all night.. His Grammy had made him a heavy afghan, it ways about 25lbs. It fits over our whole king size bed, & we thought we would use it that night because it was cold & he loved it. Ever since then that has been on the bed and there as only been a few nights of him waking up and that's when he has really bad days. So we think it is due to the weight. We had her make a smaller one that we take out to eat abd in the car to keep him calm during then. We are now going to buy the vest, we believe this helps him so much.. I would get one for him, they have a great place on line and a lady on eBay that will refund your money if your not happy. I will try and link you the site tomorrow. I hope this helps
