Head banging and tapping

by Ann
(Kitchener)

Young girl, bangs head on floor, hits head, taps head, presses fingers into head (not really harming but more for deep pressure, we think). What helps: vibration and deep pressure. However, could there be more going on that she cannot tell us; like sinus problems, headache, ear ache, inner ear? Anyone else had this experience with a child??

My son

My son does the same thing. when he is frustrated, thinks he is in trouble, and sometimes just because. I have talked to his doctor about it, and they seem to think there is nothing unnormal about it. If you are deeply concerned the best thing to do is bring it up to your daughter's pediatrician. Be aggressive if you think she need more than what her doctor is doing for her.
