if a child holds a pencil in a fist then the pencil is to long/big, and its hard for a child to accommodate that size. Take a pencil or crayon and break it in half, it has to be 2 and a 1/2 inches long. Children grasp smaller objects better. Child wont grasp a 2 and a half long pencil or crayon in their fist cuz it wont fit. Give it a try and post back your comment.

Do not afraid if your child with SPD hold a pencil with their fist.At first you might though that it is a sign of violence but that is not really mean by that. The truth is they hold pencil with a fist only for security reason...they felt comfortable holding it as seems that they have companions in school.
SPD child seems to exhibit bad behavior but that is not true, they only have sensory overload that at times provoke them to meltdown.
My 24-year-old son has started spitting excessively after brushing his teeth in the last few years. I hear him in the bathroom brushing his teeth and then
I took Reglan during my pregnancy. I know I probably got my cervical dystonia from taking it. Is it possible that my son could of gotten sensory processing
Has anyone figured out what causes this? Is it hereditary? Or does something happen during pregnancy? Without going into personal issues, I was in danger
