Holding Toy Constantly

Hello... My almost 4 year old holds toys in his hands constantly. He has not been tested but has symptoms that match being on Spectrum. Once in while he will put it down to do an activity.
Are there any techniques that I can use to help him put the toy aside so that we can work on his fine motor skills.
