How do you handle the fire drill at school?

The shrill sound of the alarm is distressing to say the least. However, is there some type of behavior therapy or other therapy that can help a child get past this issue? They need to be able to know what to do in the event of a fire. That is why I do not want these kids excused from fire drills. I'm in Ohio. Suggestions?
