I need help

by Liz
(Nyc)

My five year old was diagnosed with ADHD. Lately he started getting worst. In addition to always behaving hyper, he started laughing when bad things happen, covering his ears, sucking his clothes.

Does he need to be reevaluated? I keep thinking he'll grow out of it. But not so sure now. Can someone help me talk to him and not scream every minute "NO" or "STOP". I feel terrible and so worried. Thank you.

Medicine is good for you

MEDICATION! If you don't want him to take meds, reevaluate your stance. If he can't take meds for some reason, try caffeine or Sudafed. When your body doesn't have enough protein, you eat protein. When your body doesn't have enough antibiotics, you take antibiotics. His body doesn't have enough dopamine, get him some.

My step-son
by: Anonymous

Liz it's as if you are describing my step-son. He was diagnosed with ADHD with conduct disorder when he was 4 years old. He has always been hyper and he too laughs when hurtful things happen. When my sister was over the house crying about my Mom's passing he just laughed at her.

He has always sucked on things as well even his clothes. He was also very abusive towards our daughter that is 2 years younger than him. My husband and I tried for years to get him into therapy but his mother always refused. But his behavior got so bad that his school advised it so his mother finally agreed.

He is 8 years old and the therapist thought he needed medication. We were against it at first but his behavior on the medication got so much better. The hyperactivity was gone and he could start concentrating. Although he still sucks on his clothing, toys etc. he has always seemed as if he has no empathy as well.

He has only been in therapy now for a few months so I'm hoping this will help him.
