Is SPD always link with something else?

Can a child just have SPD or is it always linked to something else. My son saw an occupational therapist today and she confirmed SPD but we are still waiting for my son's autism testing. I was wondering do some people just have SPD with out autism, ADHD, MS, etc? Is it a disorder by itself or is it always a part of something else.

I wasn't able to find the answer anywhere else.

Lack of research
by: Anonymous

SPD has very little research done about this. It is common for SPD to be comorbid with autism,ADHD, anxiety or depression. However it can be just on its own.

SPD can be alone
by: Anonymous

My son is 2 and just has SPD. He has characteristics of autism, but he got tested and does not have autism.

And the autism characteristics were actually him being "stoned" from eating gluten. He has been on a gluten free/casein free diet for 2 months now and his eye contact and personal engagement has improved.

just SPD
by: Angie

My son just has SPD. He does have anxiety but I think it stems from the SPD. I know alot of the times it goes hand in hand with something else but not always.
