My 3 year old refuses completely to try solid food. He gags when he trys.

M 3 year old toddler refuses to try solid food. He likes soup and some mashed food but when he trys new food solid food he gags and sometimes vomits a little.
I am worried because he neither knows how to chew.. he never takes something in his hand and puts in his mouth and I am constantly fighting with him to eat. He always wants soup soup soup.. I sometimes wonder if he will ever eat crackers, breads or table food someday.
The food hour is so frustrating for me because he wants what he wants and if it is not, he will throw tantrum until he gets his way.
