SPD sounds like a combo of Asperger's Syndrome, Avoident Personality Disorder, Executive Function Disorder, and several others I've come across. Based on what I've read here, I don't think it should be considered as a completely separate condition, but rather as part of the Autism/Asperger's spectrum of disorders. These are all neurological conditions. I am just glad that there are now ways to sometimes help people with these problems. None of these conditions were recognized as such when I was growing up. I had to find my own coping methods, which I later discovered to be among those proscribed now that more is known about these conditions.
