Autism has symptoms that are not present in SPD. I believe that SPD is in the diagnostic criteria now.

Sensory Processing Disorder and Autism are not the same. Many children with autism have SPD however many children with SPD definitely aren't autistic. My son has SPD but isn't autistic and several others I know, but my sister's nephew is autistic and has several similar sensory problems as my son. Hope that helps!
