Weight parameters for vests/ blankets

Does anyone know the weight parameters for weighted blankets and weighted vests (like what percent of child's body weight the item should weigh?) I have heard a few different things from different people. Thank you!

5% of a child's body weight is what was recommended to start with for my children. My middle son, however has been using an 8 pound blanket (as recommended by his OT. We worked our way up from 3lbs). He can now count to 5 and tell you his first name. These items have really worked for my boys!

Vests - 5% of the child's body weight
Blankets - 10% plus 1 lb.
