I'm 47 years old and exhibit a number of the symptoms of the Sensory Modulation type. I've been to numerous shrinks over the years who blamed my aloof behavior and extreme reactions on my childhood. Last year my great nephew was diagnosed with SPD. He is pretty much a carbon copy of me when I was his age. Finally I understood why I don't like to cuddle, why I sleep with three blankets on me, why I hate getting stuff on my hands, etc. It was a relief to know this and it freed me from a lot of the anxiety I had. It also helped my wife understand the it was not something she had done.
