Autism, SPD or both?

My 22 year old son has Light, Touch, Texture and Sound senzitivity. He has been diagnosed with Asperger's/Autism. When I presented these symptoms and the possibility that this may also be something he had, he was very unreceptive. He states that he has autism and thats all. I can't help but wonder if these issues had been addressed vigorously when he was younger would he be able to handle the world better. We need much more attention/research in this area.
